“When anybody asks, 'What are you writing about now?' if I try to reply, the book-in-the-works sounds so idiotic to me that I think, 'Why am I trying to write that puerile junk?' So now I give up; if I could talk about it, I wouldn't have to write it."

State Of The Blog Address

Wednesday, May 02, 2007

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you may remember that my Geek and I are in the process of building a home. Okay, technically we're in the process of getting ready to start the process of building a home. We haven't broken ground yet...unless you count the septic system. The Geek recently updated our Dome Geeks blog with a bit about our latest attempt. It's been a long road with a few stops and starts, but it looks like this is finally the year.

I haven't mentioned this yet – of course, I haven't mentioned much of anything here lately – but I am working full-time again. Wait, you didn't know I wasn't. Okay, I was working full-time as a temp, then I finished that assignment, then I was unemployed for 2 weeks, then I worked for a week on another assignment, and then I started my current assignment which should last for the next two months at least – probably more – at the same company where I have already done 3 previous assignments totalling over 1-1/2 years.

Did you get all that? Well, don't worry if you didn't. The point is that I am working full-time and arranging the building of a house in my "spare" time. That being my lunch hours and and at home in the evenings in between bouts of bouncy puppy. (We are our own general contractors on this project.) That doesn't leave time for much else. That's right. You see where this is going, don't you?

So, I'll get to the point. I'm taking a break, a sabbatical (I never realized until now that this came from the word Sabbath – ya learn something new every day), a hiatus, a vacation (hah!). The blog of Geekwif will be lying fallow for a while, and hopefully when next I visit it, we will be living in a new home, a dome home, and our 10+ year dream come true.

BUT, while this blog will be silent for a while, the Dome Geeks blog will be alive, well, and active! So come visit us there! The Geek and I will both be posting there, keeping you up-to-date on our progress with pictures and anecdotes of our adventures in dome building. Come on now, you're curious aren't you? I mean, how often do you get a chance to watch a dome home being built? Please stop by and comment or just watch the progress.

For those of you who have blogs, I will try to visit now and then, but it may not be as often as I would like for a while here. I'll miss you all, but I will be back!

Hey, I'm building a house! Woo hoo!!!

Here's a funny little bit of trivia. This is my 299th post. The next time I write here (probably after we move into our new home) will be my 300th. What a fitting way to celebrate when that day comes!

Here's to the 300th post! I'll tune in for it later this year (but watch the dome site too).

Best of luck with your homebuilding project. Hope to see a picture of your new home by fall. Don't worry! We won't forget about you. Besides it's too nice outside to blog anyway.

When I saw your comment I wondered if you'd jumped back into the blog, but no updates. I hope the house building is going well . . .
